Wright about the dramatic changes in Chicago�s eviction courtrooms, including free legal representation and Emergency Rental Assistance for low-income tenants. Learn how these initiatives are part of a nationwide Right to Counsel movement to provide tenants facing eviction greater access to justice. Early Resolution Program Training

CVLS is training and supporting volunteer attorneys to help small landlords who can�t pay their bills without rent �people who have been financially devastated by the pandemic. Trained volunteers will be matched with appropriate clients for legal advice, including information about alternatives to litigation such as rental assistance, mediation, and repayment plans. Volunteers will also be able to represent clients in Zoom mediation sessions, and if necessary, prepare settlement agreements or court documents.
Guardian Ad Litem for Minors Training

Debi Martin, Supervising Attorney in CVLS� Guardian ad Litem for Minors program, will cover the skills required to be a successful GAL for a minor as well as the issues that may come up during the case. This training is for licensed attorneys interested in working as pro bono Guardians ad Litem for children through CVLS. No prior experience is necessary.

Volunteer attorneys will consult with you on your available options, prepare the documents to request an expungement or sealing of your eligible records, and give you some guidance on the process from start to finish. MLP Illinois Inaugural Speaker Series
MLP Illinois hosted it's first annual Speaker Series July 25, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois.
We were honored to hear from Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) about how medical-legal partnerships can use IDPH as a rich data source for potential research, publications, and collaborations.
Our next speaker series is scheduled for Spring/Summer of 2020 in Springfield, Illinois.
